Iodoform is presented in the form of small, bright yellow crystals that evaporate at room temperature and volatilize with water vapor. It has a high iodine content, around 96%, which, when released, has an excellent antimicrobial effect.

Iodoform, associated with intracanal medication, acts in the treatment of refractory periapical lesions, combating E. faecalis, in the repair of the periapical lesion by inducing bone neoformation, favors radiographic visualization as it is highly radiopaque and promotes mild analgesia.
